‘This Is Us’: A filming locations map you can ugly-cry to

The NBC series is set in Pittsburgh and New York—but it’s filmed in our own backyard

View as Map

This Is Us, the premier tearjerker of our time, is set mainly in Pittsburgh and New York’s tri-state area, but the series is almost entirely filmed in Los Angeles—meaning the site of nearly every Pearson triumph and tragedy is within driving distance for LA superfans. The family home? On a tree-lined street in Eagle Rock. Froggy’s, the “Pittsburgh dive” where the triplets were conceived? In picturesque San Pedro. Even Jack’s favorite tree is in Van Nuys.

You can thank the California Film Commission for making such close proximity to the show’s locations possible. In 2015, the board voted to increase its film and television credits program by more than $200 million annually, and This Is Us is one of the most high-profile beneficiaries of that expansion.

To mark the fourth season premier, tour the NBC drama’s Southland locations to get a real-life geography of the Pearson’s fictional world. But first, a warning: Reliving the show’s most heartrending moments might induce ugly crying.

Editors note: Some of the locations listed are private residences. Please respect their privacy.
