The massive 108-year-old former department store is laying the groundwork for a build-out that will fill its walls and rooftops with tons of amenities, including a Grand Central Market-style food hall and hotel. We tour the raw space before all that.
Built by architects Myron Hunt and Elmer Grey in 1907, the historic residence had been falling into disrepair in recent years. Now, 17 design firms have donated their time and money to rehab and redecorate, and it's once again ready for its closeup.
